Gray to kill Whitney after chucking her out of his house in EastEnders?

EastEnders fans will have experienced a shudder of déjà vu tonight as an increasingly unhinged Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) let rip at Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) in much the same way as he used to rage at his wife Chantelle.

Gray’s shock outburst came after Whit revealed that she’d been to the hospital to visit Kat (Jessie Wallace), who’d confronted her about the recent hit and run.

Whitney had been left with little choice but to admit she’d been behind the wheel of the car, but when she seethed about seeking revenge on the Mitchells, Kat made it plain that Phil (Steve McFadden) and Ben (Max Bowden) weren’t responsible for Kush’s untimely demise.

Returning back to No 1, Whitney admitted that Kat knew what she’d done, but assured Gray she wouldn’t be saying anything. Gray, though, was in no mood to be placated and vented spleen at Whit, shouting, ‘You just take and take. And draw me into your chaotic and petty world.’

When Whitney began to argue that looking after Gray’s kids was far from ‘petty’, he demanded that she not contradict him before asking for the return of his keys. ‘I don’t want you in my house anymore. I’m done with you,’ he stated. And as a trembling Whitney fled from the room, viewers were again treated to the sight of Gray’s evil glare.

It’s a look that, on previous occasions, has meant that the loathsome lawyer has murder in mind. All of which has left us wondering whether Gray will now plan to do away with Whit, and maybe even Kat, if he feels the need to distance himself from the car accident?

At the rate he’s going, Gray may well turn out to be the Square’s prolific ever killer. Goodness knows how many lives he’ll have taken by Christmas…

EastEnders continues on Monday 17 May at 8.05pm on BBC One
