ESCAPE to the Chateau's Dick Strawbridge has left his wife
Angel shocked with a life-changing proposal in the latest episode of the Channel 4 series.

The TV stars have been renovating their 19th Century French home they bought in 2015 for many years.

All the work they've done to the 45-bedroom chateau has been documented in their Channel 4 programme Escape to the Chateau which is now in it's ninth and last season.

During the latest series, Dick and Angel built a summer kitchen which they and their friends could enjoy throughout the year. 

The pair created a new outdoor entertaining area which was complete with a kitchen and covered wooden pergola. 

But Dick left Angel stunned when he brought up the idea of retiring to her.

The 63-year-old brought up the topic of the future and shared that he hopes the oak shelf he had made would last for another 150 years. 

Reflecting on their work, Angel said: "It feels like we have designed something which wasn't there before." 

Dick then quipped: "Shall we retire then?"

Angel quickly replied: "After the swimming pool."

The couple laughed together as they took in the views of their new outdoor area.

Elsewhere in the episode, their children Arthur and Dorothy joined them along with some of their other relatives for traditional French cuisine. 

The group raised a glass "to eating outside" together and tucked into the delicious meal made by Angel and Dick in the families new outdoor kitchen.
