Escape to the Chateau has been airing on Channel 4 and fans have enjoyed seeing Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree hard at work. A new member of the family joined at the end of 2020 and fans are keen to find out more about the family’s first dog. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about puppy Petale and what breed she is.
What breed is Petale from Escape to the Chateau?
Petale was introduced as the Strawbridge children’s first pet and they were pleased to be able to call the puppy their own.
The adorable pup has been loving life at the spacious chateau, which has plenty of fun spots to play.
Petale is a Kerry Blue Terrier and they are the perfect working dog breed.
They originate from Ireland and they were originally bred to hunt ‘vermin’ and small game.
Kerry Blues are great at herding and they are known for their intelligence and fearlessness.
As fans have seen, they also make great family pets and show loyalty to their owners.
Dick recently opened up about sharing special moments with his new pet, and he said on Twitter: “Really surprised when Petale and I popped out for our evening walk just how clear the sky was… there are a lot of stars!”
Fans are able to see how Petale has integrated into the family through home videos added to the Escape to the Chateau website.
One of the videos showed Petale in the garden, helping the children on an Easter egg hunt.
She was seen in the background of their latest Instagram photo, and they said: “The sun is back at The Chateau, and Dick’s getting to work in The Walled Garden, plotting and planting for the season ahead.”
In February 2020 they shared a video of Petale being picked up from the dog grooming salon.
They said: “Last week we took Petale to get a trim, but some of us weren’t so sure we collected the right dog.”
Sadly it seemed Petale was not too impressed with her new haircut and she had an interesting way of letting her family know how she felt.
Young Dorothy said Petale looked “terrifying” and Angel said: “She looks like a boy”.
Kerry Blues are not a particularly well-known dog breed, but they have plenty of great assets.
