EastEnders fans fumed as Karen Taylor protected murderous Gray from the police by hiding him and his son Jordan in her house.

During Wednesday’s (March 9) instalment of the popular BBC One soap, viewers were left sitting on the edge of their seat as they waited for the highly-anticipated arrest of the disgraced solicitor.

As rumours continued to swirl around the TV heartthrob on the Square, Gray was forced to kidnapped his son from the hospital behind his wife Chelsea’s back.

It didn’t take long before the doting mum sounded the alarm as police soon swarmed the hospital, all on the lookout for her husband while he hid inside his close friend’s apartment.

But fans were shocked to discover that it was Karen’s house he was staying at while the police were hunting him down as the supportive friend covered for him while Whitney Dean and Mick Carter started searching through all the homes on the streets.

As viewers watched the nail-biting development on the show, they swarmed to social media to share their thoughts on the shocking twist online.

One user fumed: "Karen is so trusting and loyal to her family which is why Gray can easily manipulate her.

"I swear when this all blows up, she's going to be so hurt, I hate it here #EastEnders."

Another pointed out: "Catch on, Karen!!!!! He's kidnapped his own child from the hospital. This monster needs to be behind bars. Don't kill him off for the sake of an explosive ending to the storyline as there's no justice for all his victims that way #EastEnders."

A third complained: "Watching Karen defend Gray is physically hurting every bone in my body #eastenders."
