This Morning: Eamonn and Ruth say goodbye to viewers

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford said “goodbye” to their loyal This Morning fans after 15 long years of presenting the Friday show. In the last few minutes of their regular slot, Eamonn asked the viewers to be “nice and lovely” to Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary when they kick off their new role in January. 

“Now, Phil and Holly are here on Christmas Day with a very special addition,” Ruth explained. 

“It’s very festive, worth tuning into on Christmas morning,” Eamonn added. “You won’t be watching us anymore on a Friday. 

“Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary – they’re going to be here on Friday’s from here on it. 

“And please, we would ask you, to be as nice and lovely to them – as they are friends of ours, and we’re very close to Alison – as you have been to us for the past 15 years.

“We appreciate all the love you have sent us today, we send it all back to you. 

“Have a very Merry Christmas whatever you’re doing, it’s been lovely having you,” he continued.  

“And IU think we will see everybody again…” 

“In February! So you haven’t got rid of us, we’re back for half term,” Ruth took over and explained. 

“It’s been a tricky year for everybody, we hope we’ve helped you through it a little bit and thank you for all you support. 

“Have a very Merry Christmas, and see you in February!” She concluded.
