Death in Paradise will return this Christmas with a feature-length special episode. The BBC has confirmed Danny John-Jules will be returning to the hit drama for the first time since 2018, reprising his role as Officer Dwayne Myers. Dwayne will work alongside Officer Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles), although, the duo seem to have some history.

The Christmas instalment will see Officer Dwayne Myers make a return as he teams up with Detective Neville Parker (Ralf Little) and Florence Cassell (Joséphine Jobert) to solve a murder case.

However, Dwayne quickly realises he knows Marlon because he’s arrested him in the past.

Marlon was originally introduced to the series as an 18-year-old petty criminal.

Although, this all changed when he found himself on a new path as the newest recruit for the police team.

The one-off special will see Neville prepare to go to Manchester to spend time with his family for Christmas.

However, his plans are quickly changed when a billionaire shipping magnate dies in mysterious circumstances.

Things take an even stranger turn when a minicab driver in London receives a Christmas card with an ominous message inside that turns the entire case on its head.

Will the Saint Honore Police force be able to crack the case?

Florence will also be replaced by Dwayne after she jets home for the Christmas holidays.

Alongside Marlon, Dwayne employs his unique style of policing to help investigate the case.

Left to their own devices, the pair struggle on the best plan of action for apprehending a suspect.

However, as Christmas Day approaches, will the pair realise they’re more like one another than they originally thought?

Dwayne has always been a ladies man, but could one of his old romances come back to haunt him only to reveal Marlon is actually his son?

The actor who plays Dwayne has hinted he’ll be sharing a storyline with Tahj Miles, who plays Marlon.

When the news of his return was announced, the actor took to Twitter to share some photos of himself with Tahj and Don Warrington.

In the first photo, the trio of actors are much younger, with Tahj still being a child.

Meanwhile, the second picture showed them all in costume on the set of Death in Paradise.

He captioned the post writing: “Some things in life are written in the stars. They call it #destiny. Only a fool would fight it. @TahjDMiles @Don_warrington #BBC #RedPlanet #DeathInParadiseChristmasSpecial”

The Christmas Special will also see the return of fan-favourites Selwyn Pattison (Don Warrington) and bar owner Catherine (Elizabeth Bourgine).

The one-off special will also feature a number of guest stars including the likes of Mathew Baynton (Ghosts), Juliet Stevenson (Riviera), Stanley Townsend (Informer) and Jocelyn Jee Esien (Jack & The Beanstalk: After Ever After).

As well as Anthony Calf (Poldark), Tessa Bonham Jones (The Trial of Christine Keeler), Elizabeth Tan (Emily in Paris) and Tariq Jordan (Law and Order: UK).

Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
