ITV soap fans could soon be set to see heartbreak on Coronation Street for engaged couple Todd Grimshaw (played by Gareth Pierce) and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank). The pair are due to marry but unbeknownst to Billy, Todd has been committing crimes on the cobbles. The undertaker has been lying to Billy, but according to official soap spoilers the truth is about to come out. Will Billy stay with Todd if he discovers what he’s been up to? Or will he break off their upcoming wedding?

In recent weeks, Todd has been desperate to find money while being blackmailed by Will (Ben Hackett) for the devious way he forced Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) out of the picture.

Last week, the undertaker decided to steal an expensive heat pump his partner purchased for the halfway house.

Todd was hoping to use the money from the heat pump to pay Will off, but it looks like in upcoming scenes on the soap, the youngster is going to reveal the truth anyway.

Coming up on Coronation Street, Billy and Todd reveal to Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) that Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) is going to design her a bespoke groomsmaid dress.

Billy tells Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) they’ve booked their wedding for five weeks’ time.

When Summer lets slip Todd gave Billy £1,000 towards the halfway house, Will realises Todd ripped him off.

As Will lists all Todd’s crimes and reveals the lengths he went to, to split up Billy and Paul, Summer’s horrified.

Summer soon confronts Todd about what Will has told her. How will Todd react as the truth comes out?

Meanwhile, Will is determined to expose Todd and sends a video to Paul.

Later on as the locals gather in Victoria Garden for the calendar launch party, Paul swaps the laptop for his own. Having introduced the film, Emma presses play on the laptop.

To Todd’s horror, the film turns out to be an incriminating video of him telling Will how he successfully split up Billy and Paul.

Billy stares at Todd in utter disgust before heading off. Soon after on the street, Billy, Summer and Paul watch as Todd is arrested for theft and led away.

Billy and Summer agree they did the right thing reporting Todd to the police.

Will the unveiling of Todd’s crimes and his arrest lead Billy to break off their engagement? According to new data, this could be the case.

A brand-new study conducted by BestNewBingoSites has looked into the most common reason for soap characters jilting their loved ones at the altar.

The study revealed 14 percent of soap weddings are called off on the day due to a criminal incident or arrest.

This suggests things are not looking good for engaged couple Billy and Todd as the pair could break up as a result of his crimes.

Other common reasons for unsuccessful soap weddings are cold feet, injury or death, gold digging accusations and payback or long planned revenge.

However, crime isn’t the most common reason for soap weddings being called-off, as 31 percent of all failed attempts at getting married were due to accusations of infidelity coming to light.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Coronation Street couples, as the analysis further revealed Corrie is the soap with the most weddings with a total of 99 in its 60 plus year history.

Many viewers have been closely following the relationship between Todd and Billy.

Some fans have even taken to Twitter to share their hopes the couple will split.

One viewer posted: “Hope everything will come out about todd and billy finds out everything and gets rid of todd #coronationstreet.”

A second agreed adding: “I want paul to wreck Todd’s life #Corrie #coronationstreet.”

However, there are still some viewers who are hoping everything will turn out alright for the couple.

One fan wrote: “#coronationstreet I know what Todd’s done is awful but I hope billy forgives him xxxx”

Will Billy and Todd go through with the wedding? Viewers will have to tune in to find out their fate.

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm on ITV.
