Over the past few weeks, Coronation Street viewers have watched a young Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) grow more curious about her killer dad. Showing tenancies of violence herself, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone (Alan Hansell) have done what they can to try and shelter her as much as they can. However, in scenes set to air next week, Fiz remains unaware as her daughter’s obsession continues to grow.
Fans of the ITV soap have witnessed Hope display some worrying behaviour over the past few years which has recently ramped up.
With the tell-all book about her dead dad recently released, Hope seems to have become obsessed with getting to know more about the murderer.
Wanting to try and keep her away from the horror stories about John Stape, her mum Fiz and Tyrone have tried to hide all things related to him, not to much success.
The 11-year-old started flogging her dad’s book to make a profit and even joined a sinister group chat called ‘Legacy of Evil’.
However, last month her aggressive behaviour started to mirror her dad when she threatened two older girls at school with a hammer which got her expelled.
Although she’s now returned back to education, viewers watched the youth hold a séance with her two friends to try and contact John from the other side.
The kids are left spooked when a bag full of research, which had been given to Fiz by the author of the book, spilt from the cupboards.
Finding photos and audio tapes in the collection from her dad, she asked her mum to buy her a cassette tape for her birthday, not revealing the truth about why she wanted it.
In scenes set to air next week, Coronation Street viewers will see Hope get to listen to her John Stape tape as she’s left completely spellbound.
Although Fiz and Tyrone remain completely unaware as they’re wrapped up in their engagement bubble.
After hearing Fiz complain about the stress of planning a wedding, he’s secretly organising for them to say ‘I do’ at Christmas.
Next week, the excited groom-to-be reveals his plans to Kevin and Abi as he shows them the dress he’s chosen with the help of Gemma.
It doesn’t go as well as he thought when Abi tells him that the dress is hideous and Fiz won’t like it.
Wanting to help, Beth agrees to make some alterations hoping that Fiz will like the dress her fiance has chosen.
However, things take a turn when Fiz discovers Gemma modelling a wedding dress while Beth pins it and demands to know what’s happening.
A theory by Express.co.uk suggests that unable to keep in their excitement, the two women spill the beans on Tyrone’s secret wedding plans.
Shocked, the bride has to decide whether or not she wants to confess to Tyrone she knows the truth or pretend that she’s still none the wiser.
Last year, actress Isabella Flanagan spoke about her character to Inside Soap, she said: “I feel as if Hope might quieten down a bit.
“But then they’ll make her do something super bad.
“Everyone will think she’s doing something nicer, and then ‘Boom!’, she’ll do something awful.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub
