Coronation Street fans spot major Chesney blunder as he forgets John Stape murder plot

CORONATION Street fans have spotted a major blunder after Chesney seemingly forgot the John Stape murder plot.

In 2010, Chesney's sister Fiz was married to teacher John, who killed colleague Charlotte Hoyle when he bashed her over the head with a hammer in the living room at No. 5.

But on Friday night's episode of the ITV soap, Chesney erased the incident from his mind when he declared he wouldn't be able to live in a house that someone had been killed in.

He made the announcement as his pregnant ex-girlfriend Gemma Winter showed him an ad for a five-bedroom house that was up for sale.

Chesney couldn't believe the house was priced so cheaply, so shot down Gemma's property plans.

He then appeared spooked that a murder had taken place at the property, and insisted he couldn't live there.

But Chesney has been living in a murder house for several years – as fans pointed out after the episode aired.

One wrote on Twitter: "Chesney wouldn't want to live in a house where there'd been a murder. Didn't John Stape kill Charlotte in no. 5?"

The official Corrie Twitter replied: "Shh, don't remind Chesney!"

Another fan wrote: "To be fair it's hard to live on that street and not be in a house where someone's been murdered."

A third said: "He lived 2 doors down from a serial killer fgs!"

A fourth added: "Number 5 is a murder house!"

A fifth wrote: "Chesney seems to have a selective memory #Corrie!!"

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
