Britney Spears jokes 'out with the old' as she chops off her hair
BRITNEY Spears has revealed it's "out with the old and in with the new" as she chopped off her hair.
The singer took to Instagram to reveal her new look, a shaggy cropped look that hit her shoulders.
"Cut my hair!!!!" the Gimme More star shared.
"You know what they say …. out with the old …. in with the new !!!!! Now let us pray!!!!"
Britney, 39, shared three different pictures, pairing her new hair with a heavy smoky eyeliner and pale skin.
Boyfriend Sam Asghari was quick to comment, simply writing "I love it" while friends and fans also praised her new look.
"THIS IS SO CHIC WOWW," commented one fan as another added: "My fav hair length on you."
"I love your hair any length, but this is so cute!" wrote Drag Race star Derrick Barry, known for being a Britney impersonator.
Her cut comes amid an ongoing legal battle with her father to regain control over her own life.
Britney has been under conservatorship since 2009,and her father Jamie retains control for most of her finances and day-to-day decisions.
The pop star’s dad made a rare comment about his family and the ongoing legal war he’s in with Britney on Monday, and admitted the pair are no longer on “good terms.”
The family patriarch opened up about the experience, and confessed to CNN: “I love my daughter and I miss her very much.
“When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally.
“I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family.”
Jamie has had full control over Britney's financial and personal affairs since her public meltdown in 2008.
However, since August, the mother-of-two has been battling in court to remove Jamie from the guardianship.
Last month, the mom-of-two’s attorney requested for Jamie to be suspended from his central role in the conservatorship, during a hearing at an LA court on Tuesday.
"My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father. She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career," her lawyer Sam Ingham told the judge.
