Ben Whishaw Says A Woman Playing James Bond "Could Be Amazing"
There have been ongoing rumors about a female being cast as the next James Bond, especially with No Time to Die marking Daniel Craig’s final performance as 007.
Ben Whishaw has portrayed Q in the last two Bond films, Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). The 38-year-old is set to reprise his role in No Time to Die, and he likes the idea of a woman replacing Craig as the next Bond film.
“Why not? Reinvention of these long-running things is good – it’s essential in fact,” Whishaw said to the Press Association. “So I think it could be amazing.”
Whishaw isn’t the only Bond actor who is keen on having a female succeed Craig. Pierce Brosnan – who played 007 in four films – said “it would be exhilarating,” and “exciting” if a woman was cast as the next Bond.
Craig replaced Pierce Brosnan as Bond – and his first movie as the legendary British spy character, Casino Royale, was released in 2006. Craig also portrayed Bond in Quantom of Solace (2008) and the aforementioned Skyfall and Spectre films.

Amid rumors that he was leaving the franchise, Craig signed up for No Time to Die. Idris Elba and Tom Hardy are among the many actors who have been rumored to take over as Bond. Sean Bean – who played the bond villain Alec Trevelyan in Goldeneye – endorsed Richard Madden as Craig’s replacement.
Craig is the seventh actor to portray James Bond. Prior to him, Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Brosnan portrayed the character.
The 51-year-old Craig has received excellent reviews for his work as Bond. He received a BAFTA nomination for his performance in Casino Royale. He also received Empire Award nominations for the performances of his first three Bond films. But Craig has decided that it’s time to hang up the boots on his illustrious performance as 007, and we can’t wait to see who will succeed him.
