A Place in the Sun guest slams villa as he says hed need ropes to get in

Ben Hillman appeared to have some fun on A Place in the Sun when he was given the challenge of finding a couple a home in Italy within a budget of £75,000.

In Tuesday's episode of the Channel 4 show, that first aired in January, the presenter was helping Michelle and Bernard search the city of Lucca in Tuscany for a holiday home.

They ideally wanted three bedrooms and an outside area with a nice view.

While Ben's first and second offerings were a big hit, things went a bit astray with property number three, a townhouse in the medieval city of Barga.

The three-bedroom house was on the market for £72,072 and had a balcony, open plan living area, cellar, and a roof terrace with mountain views.

It needed a lot of work and Bernard, in particular, was concerned about the stairs.

Ben gestured to the stunning view out of a window and said: "Steep steps, but it is worth the climb."

"This is nice," said Michelle but she sounded a bit doubtful.

Bernard commented: "This is the nicest thing you have shown us so far in the property."

"This is the only thing I like," chipped in Michelle.

Her husband added: "We would probably need some climbing ropes and such like to get up here."

Trying to save it, Ben joked: "Well I thought that could be one of your new sporting activities."

Luckily, the couple completely fell in love with property number five, and Michelle was even reduced to tears by the beauty of the view.

The four-bedroom house Barga had a private garden and was valued at £76,577 at the time of filming.

Discussing the properties the next day with Ben, Michelle and Bernard revealed they would be making an offer on number five.

Bernard said: "The house itself was brilliant, it had everything complete with a private terrace on the roof which you would have seen was an emotional moment for Michelle."

The couple made an offer of £70,500 which was around £6,000 below the asking price.

Michelle couldn't believe it when the offer was accepted and she and Bernard were overjoyed as the news slowly sank in.
