Maralee Nichols is reportedly suing NBA player and Khloe Kardashian's ex Tristan Thompson for child support after the duo had a brief fling this year.

She shared a photo of a sunset on her Instagram to announce the birth of her baby boy after confirming she was now living in California, but said she wouldn't be posting any personal photos for some time.

She wrote: "Things feel very hard right now but I know eventually, this will all be over and my baby boy and I can live a happy life.

"I made a mistake, but I'm human. I won't be posting any personal photos for a while as I don't want to hurt my family. Thanks in advance for understanding."

It comes after documents obtained by DailyMail stated that Tristan would become a dad for the third time following an alleged fling.

The documents claim that the baby was conceived in Houston, Texas, during Tristan's 30th birthday celebrations in March, when he was still dating Khloe, the mother of his three-year-old daughter True.

In a copy of text messages obtained by Radar, he allegedly offered Nichols $75,000 (£56,000) to keep quiet as he warned that he would be retiring from basketball after his season and would legally be unemployed.

The text message claimed to be from Tristan read: "You know how I feel. My feelings haven’t changed at all. Won’t be involved at all.

"Btw if you think having this baby is gonna make you some money. It’s completely wrong. You are aware that I’m retiring after this season.

"So in terms of support it will be whatever is required monthly for someone who’s unemployed. It’s Texas so it will be only a couple hundred dollars."

Tristan has reportedly denied sending the message, but claims his contact information is "present" in them.

It is said that in the declaration included in the paternity suit, he has acknowledged having sex with Nichols several times at a hotel, but claims it was the only night he was intimate with her – which Nichols' lawyers dispute.

In the documents seen by Daily Mail he said: "We did not drink at my hotel room and Petitioner was not drunk. After we had sexual intercourse, Petitioner specifically asked me if she could spend the night because it was my 'special birthday' as she called it."

He added: "We were both naked sleeping with one another. Before I left the hotel, we had sexual intercourse again in the morning."
