Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall pulls his hair out when he sees bald singers.

But the flame-haired frontman makes an exception for slaphead Isaac Hayes, right.

Red-head Mick, who has sold more than 50million albums, reckons some folk are “jealous” of his impressive mane.

He said: “Some [people] make me out to be a bit arrogant, but I’m long past caring.

“A lot of it is jealousy. I’ve got a bit of money and all my own hair.” And he warned: “A bald lead singer is not a good look – unless you’re Isaac Hayes.”

Famous baldies on the music scene include the lads from Right Said Fred, Phil Collins, Michael Stipe of REM fame, Billy Joel, Moby, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, and Hot Chocolate’s Errol Brown, who died in 2015.

Mick, whose dad Reg was a Manchester barber, told a magazine: “What can I say? I’m genetically blessed.”

It comes after the hitmaker was diagnosed with hypothyroidism after years of undiagnosed symptoms.

In an interview back in 2014, the dad-of-one explained how he went untreated for so long.

He said: "The specialist I saw told me I'd probably had [an underactive thyroid] since 1993. I had no idea.

"I had aching joints and was tired all the time and had gained weight," adding that he would "feel and look all puffy."

In the enlightening interview with the Mirror, he added: "I was getting more and more bloated and would wake up so confused, thinking, 'Did I eat a lot last night or something?'"

As he reflected on the "side effects" of his condition, he explained his experience with mood swings, aching joints and fatigue.

"Depression is also connected to the underactive thyroid as the illness prolongs. You can even get certain forms of cancers."
