MAFS UKs Marilyse Corrigan donates kidney to her ex as her kids need a dad

Married At First Sight's Marilyse Corrigan has made the decision to donate a kidney to her ex partner, in a bid to save his life because their "kids need their dad".

Marilyse Corrigan from this year's MAFS UK will be going under the knife next week to donate an organ to her ex.

The 36-year-old TV star's ex partner suffers with polycystic kidney disease, which has "grown over the years".

While the pair were together Shaun told Channel 4 star Marilyse that he may need a kidney someday, so she got tested to see if she was a suitable donor.

Marilyse and Shaun share two sons – Josh, 13, and Callum, 15.

Their eldest Callum will turn 16 on the day of his mum's op.

Shaun found out that he would need dialysis and a transplant from a donor in 2019.

Speaking exclusively to OK! Magazine, Marilyse opened up on her decision to donate a kidney.

Speaking on the decision, she said: "I was with my kids' dad for about seven, eight years.

"And during the time that I was with him, he suffered with [and] knew that he had a kidney problem, called polycystic kidneys, which is cysts on his kidneys. And they've grown over the years.

"When we were together he had to go for regular hospital appointments to keep an eye on his kidney function.

"And every time it went it was dropping and I remember when he said to me: 'Oh my kidneys are only on 25%' when ours are a lot higher."

She then opened up to the publication about what their kids think about their mum doing what she's doing for their dad.

"The kids appreciate it," she said.

"I got a message from my eldest at school a couple of weeks ago. Just saying, 'Mum, I just want you to know that I really do appreciate what you're doing for us and Dad'. So you know, that means so much, so much."
