Katie Price says natural entertainer Harvey is comfortable with attention

Katie Price has described son Harvey Price as "a natural entertainer" saying he is "comfortable with the attention" as she talks about their relationship in her new book Katie Price: Harvey and Me – A Mother's Love.

She said: "He loves to play up to the camera but in fact it's Harvey just being himself – we bounce off one another, he often has me in stitches."

Talking about their BBC documentary, Katie Price: Harvey and Me, which was nominated for a National Television Award earlier this year, Katie said: "Harvey was more excited about filming trains and going to Paddington Station than understanding what a documentary was.

"Harvey is comfortable with the attention – he has no idea what all the fuss is about – Harvey is just Harvey and I, well I am just mum!"

Her new book follows the documentary of the same name, in which Katie documents the bond between her and son Harvey, sharing "what really goes on behind closed doors".

The book gives readers an insight into her life with Harvey with who she says she has "an unbreakable bond", his relationship with his siblings and overcoming the odds that he has faced.

"Harvey isn’t a thing to poke fun at, he is my son," said Katie.

"He overcomes mountains and obstacles every day that other people take for granted. I am so proud of him. He has feelings and so do I."

"I want everyone to see what goes into being a mother of a severely disabled child," said Katie. "This is the most personal thing I have ever done – to share Harvey and the daily challenges we endeavour together."

Katie added: "Harvey is a one in a million. I hope to give inspiration to other parents, like me – in a time when we all need a little more support."

Harvey was born with septic optic dysplasia, a rare condition that affects brain function, hormones and vision, and lives everyday with complex needs.

Katie has raised him as a single mum, with support from her own mother who she says is "her rock."

She said: "No two days are the same in Harvey’s world. There is no predictability apart from his set routine, which is key to his overall wellbeing.

"I never know what’s coming, what mood he will be in when he wakes up but I wouldn’t change a thing about him, he’s perfect to me."

Katie explained that her children Junior, Princess, Jett and Bunny are all "so in tune with him" and that Harvey has brought them all closer together as a family.

"My children are my greatest achievement and always will be," said Katie.

Katie Price: Harvey and Me: A Mother’s Love, published by Mirror Books, is on sale now from all good bookshops, selected supermarkets and Amazon.
