Holly Willoughby says she felt numb as This Morning host talks past struggles

Holly Willoughby has revealed that her seemingly perfect life is not all it’s made out to be.

The 40-year old presenter, well known for her chirpy attitude and iconic friendship with This Morning co-star Phillip Schofield, said she's previously felt "numb" and "adrift" as she opened up about writing her new book Reflections: The Inspirational Book of Life Lessons.

The mum of three previously told publication You: "Writing it was scary, but I loved doing it and felt it was very much needed. "The words just poured out.

The presenter went on to say that she 'felt numb and a bit adrift' at some points and was worried that she was not enjoying her life to its fullest.

"I wasn’t unhappy but I felt I was missing out on something," Holly explained.

"The busier I was and the more plates I kept spinning the less time I had to sit in silence and listen to myself."

Holly continued on, discussing her hectic schedule and busy work life balance: "We give ourselves high fives for multitasking.

"People say 'I don’t know how you do it!' and you think, 'I know. I was quite happy on the hamster wheel. I never crashed, I never fell off. But you can’t sustain that forever'."

Holly, who recently took part in An Audience With Holly Willoughby session with ITV pal Christine Lampard, is married to TV producer Daniel Baldwin and the pair have been together for 14 years.

She recently opened up about when she was away from her husband and children whilst filming for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018, during which she underwent kinesiology, a practice which claims to diagnose problems in the body through the muscles.

She credits this moment to sparking her wellness journey and the catalyst for her book.

Holly said: “I was without my children, without my husband for two weeks before they came out. And I had this apartment, and I had nothing to do apart from look after myself.

“I was in the land of the alternative life and I was like, 'Wow, I am going to do everything'.

"I am just going to dive on in here and see what feels good.”

During her kinesiology session, Holly said she thought that "there was seriously something else going on there because she definitely unlocked something."

She added: “It wasn’t like a eureka hallelujah moment. It wasn’t nice. But I knew that it was the beginning of something.

"That was it really. That was the beginning. What started off as scary I now love. I’m never going to be at the point where you go, ‘I did that and now I am fixed.’”
