Harry Styles tipped for Oscar win by fans as epic My Policeman trailer drops

Harry Styles have tipped him to win an Oscar for his new film My Policeman after the first trailer for it was released on Wednesday (June 16).

Harry's role in the 50s period drama as a married policeman named Tom, who lives another life with his gay lover Patrick in Brighton when homosexuality is illegal, is his first in a leading film role.

In the first clip released of the upcoming film, viewers can see Harry's character kissing his wife, Marion, while also having steamy moments with museum curator Patrick.

At the start of the clip the pair are seen admiring a painting in a gallery, and Patrick asks Tom: "So, how does it make you feel?"

In a montage, memories of Tom's wedding day to his wife Marion are seen, before the policeman locks lips with Patrick in a dark corridor.

Fans are already predicting the film it will make waves in the Oscars next year after the movie hits theatres in October, despite the preview only lasting one minute.

Many of the singer-turned-actor's fans have insisted on Twitter, Harry will pick up scores of gongs during awards season.

One said: "I remain convinced Harry Styles was designed specifically for period dramas. that’s MY policeman."

Another joked: "And the Oscar goes to… Harry Styles for his performance in My Policeman."

Discussing a scene between Harry and David, a third wrote: "The angst, the agony, the internal disappointment. He deserves an Oscar for this scene alone!!!"

A fourth added: "Harry Styles in My Policeman deserves an Oscar and the movie isn't even out yet."

The romantic drama film examine the struggles the LGBTQ community faces in Britain in the 1950s.

At the end of the trailer for the period drama, Tom's love affair appears to be discovered after his wife Emma seen weeping as she tears papers apart.

A police officer's uniform is seen set alight on a burning bonfire as Tom watches.

My Policeman, available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from November 4, 2022.
