Cardi B gives husband Offset a full-on lapdance on stage at BET Awards
Power couple Cardi B and Offset opened the BET Awards 2019 together on Sunday night – and there sure were some fireworks.
The Money hitmaker invited everyone to watch while she gave the rapper a lapdance on the stage, in an NSFW performance of her new hit Press.
Cardi, who’s been posing as a stripper in the new film Hustlers, proved she’s got some serious skills as she writhed around like they were the only people in the room.
*Except for all the photographers, dancers, video cameras and music industry megastars (including RiRi on the front row).
Cardi looked fierce in a glittering caged bodysuit with matching emerald chaps and heeled boots.
Her husband, who opened the show with Clout, on which they collaborated, was wearing a boilersuit and a bulletproof vest.
If it weren’t for the staging, which left Cardi behind to perform a routine with her dancers, we’d say the lapdance was hot enough to make Offset depart the stage, swiftly after.
For Cardi, it’s all good practise for getting into the role of Diamond on her movie debut, alongside Jennifer Lopez.
Hustlers, which is in cinemas from 13 September 2019, is based on a New York Times article telling the true story of how a group of strippers who clubbed together to steal from the wealthy men who frequented their club.
Cardi herself has been pretty open about her past life as a stripper, during which she earned $20,000 by the age of 21.
‘Would people feel some type of way if I was a cashier-turned-rapper?’ she said when she first arrived on the music scene.
‘People want me to be so full of shame that I used to dance. I would never be ashamed of it.
‘I made a lot of money, I had a good time and it showed me a lot – it made me open my eyes about how people are, how men are, about hunger and passion and ambition.’
As well as being asked to open Sunday’s show, the artist was one of the biggest stars to be honoured at this year’s BET Awards.
She went into the evening with seven nominations – the most of any performer – and won gongs for Album of The Year for Invasion of Privacy and best female hip-hop artist.
