Woman’s PrettyLittleThing suit made her look like ‘Harry Potter sorting hat’
A bridesmaid claims a lounge suit she ordered from online retailer PrettyLittleThing left her looking like the Harry Potter sorting hat.
Kirsty Jennings purchased the knitted lounge set for £23, and planned on wearing it while travelling to a friend's wedding in Cyprus this September.
But when the suit arrived, the 25-year-old nurse was horrified by her order – which turned out to be a baggy two-piece in a murky colour brown.
A hilarious picture shows the suit top matching the iconic Harry Potter hat's murky brown colour, while its baggy fit created the shape of the character's eyes and mouth on poor Kirsty's stomach.
The bottom half of the outfit didn't fare much better as size 8-10 Kirsty said the trousers were so baggy ‘you could probably fit another person in them’.
On the website PrettyLittleThing boasts that shoppers have the chance to ‘look like the ultimate style icon whilst having the maximum comfort’ in the rust set.
But fashion lover Kirsty said she feels she has been ‘catfished’ by the online retailer and won’t buy anything from them in future.
Kirsty, from Birmingham, said: “It looks like I’m wearing the sorting hat – once you see it you can’t unsee it.
“I like Harry Potter but I didn’t want to look like one of the extras.
“I realised it wasn’t what it looked like on the website as soon as I put it on, the whole thing was horrible.
“My mum took one look at me in it and burst out laughing, looking back it’s quite funny but at the time I thought ‘I’ve got to send this back’.”
Kirsty had been browsing on her phone earlier this month when she spotted what appeared to be the perfect choice for the five-hour flight and ordered it – a slouchy off-the shoulder top and elasticated trousers.
Excited Kirsty had been telling pals at work about her new airport outfit and was looking forward to getting home at 8pm to try it on.
But excitement soon turned to disappointment when Kirsty tried on the top to discover that it wasn’t roomy enough to wear casually slung over one shoulder like the model does on the website.
Kirsty said: “I liked the colour and the fact it looked airy, like you wouldn’t get too hot on the plane with it.
“I sent a picture of it to my friend beforehand and she said it was lovely.
“I was so excited on the day it was due to arrive. I was talking to one of my colleagues about it saying ‘my lounge suit’s coming’ and showing them the picture.
“They thought it would be comfy for the five-hour flight from Birmingham to Cyprus.
“The trousers were really baggy – you could probably fit another person in it.
“The top was loose but not as loose as it looks like in the picture, there was no chance it could have gone over my shoulder.
“The pockets were terrible too, the lining was all crinkled – someone said it looked like I had mincemeat in there.
“The whole thing is a massive disappointment and means I’ll have to go and shop somewhere else to find the right one.
“I used to shop regularly at Pretty Little Thing but I won’t be any more.”
PrettyLittleThing has been approached for comment.
