Key figures who won’t be at Archie’s christening in Windsor Castle

Archie's christening today is set to be a private affair with a very limited number of guests expected – between 25 to 30.

The exclusive venue means members of the public will not get to see little Archie arrive and leave the church as many had hoped they would.

And the choice of parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to make the ceremony private means some key figures won't be there.

Neither the Queen nor Prince Philip, Archie's great grandparents, will be at the ceremony inside Windsor Castle.

This is reportedly due to a 'diary clash'.

The couple were forced to move the date from Friday to Saturday after learning that both the Queen and Prince Charles had already committed to engagements.

But while Archie's granddad can make it, the Queen is thought to be spending the weekend at Sandringham.

The Queen did attend Prince George's christening in October 2013 and Princess Charlotte in July 2015, along with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh.

They did not attend Prince Louis's christening.

Princess Anne is also not attending. In 1984 a 'full-scale family row' meant that Anne did not go to Prince Harry's christening, at the time it was speculated that this was because she was not chosen as a godparent.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are at the christening but are not thought to have brought Archie's cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis with them.

Meghan's mother Doria Ragland is in the UK but she will be the only member of the Duchess's family at the service, much like she was at her daughter's wedding in May last year.

Meghan is still estranged from her father Thomas Markle, and much of her family on her dad's side, including half-sister Samantha Markle who has repeatedly lashed out at Meghan in the press.

The relationship between daughter and dad has been strained ever since it was revealed that he had been posing for paparazzi photos of his 'preparations' for his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry.

In the end he did not travel on health grounds and he is yet to meet his grandson Archie.
