The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed a lovely meal out with their children on the weekend, and were described as "down to earth" and "just like any other family" by onlookers.

Prince William, 39, wife Kate, also 39, and their three kids; Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, four, were joined by their pet dog as they visited a traditional countryside pub.

The royal family members and their dog were pictured enjoying some quality time together as they sat in the Norfolk pub's beer garden tucking into some pub grub.

Thought to be in close proximity of their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk, the exact name of the pub was not revealed.

While the Cambridge family spent a lot of time at their countryside home, their permanent residence is at Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace, London.

A witness revealed to The Sun that on Saturday, the family had enjoyed a relaxed lunch with no security around.

Although typically dressed up for their fancy royal engagements and professional family portraits, the children were all dressed casually in t-shirts, shorts and trainers.

The kids, who usually dress up for family portraits or engagements, such as George's outing to Wembley earlier this year, were dressed casually in shorts, T-shirts and trainers.

Their black spaniel also sat patiently as the young family enjoyed burgers and chips, with heir to the throne William pictured tucking into his meal.

The witness revealed to the publication: "It was amazing to see how down-to-earth the family were. It would have been easy to miss them – and just assume they were any other family.

“They were laughing and chatting and clearly enjoying each other’s company.”

They continued: “They were eating outside, I suppose because it was easier for the children. There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family. Wills had a burger and chips.

"They had their pet dog – a spaniel – with them, and they were all laughing."

Speaking of a sweet moment, the witness explained: "There was one particularly touching moment where one of the children got upset because their food was too hot.

“William was so fast to reassure them and sort them out. It was fantastic to see.”

This particular trip to the pub isn't the first time the Cambridges have been seen enjoying more "normal" days out as a family.

Kate is apparently a huge fan of mingling with other parents from Charlotte and George's school, and has previously enjoyed a drink at some local boozers with other mums.

Here, we take a look into some of the Norfolk-based pubs the Cambridges have previously visited…

The Dabbling Duck pub, Great Massingham

Countryside pub The Dabbling Duck is said to be a favourite of Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex are said to have been spotted at the establishment in the past, with William seen enjoying a dinner with his wife Kate.

According to the pub and hotel's Facebook account, they've been "super busy" all summer at the restaurant and have urged customers to book in advance.

The Crown Inn pub, East Rudham

In February 2016, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed a kid-free evening at The Crown Inn in East Rudham, only ten minutes away from Amner Hall.

A regular revealed that the spouses had enjoyed dinner and drinks before leaving around 10.30pm.

The pub has recently posted that they're hiring an assistant manager, so royal fanatics should jump at the opportunity!

"Assistant Manager, experience and smile essential ! Come and join our lovely team", read a post on their Facebook.

The Rose & Crown pub, Snettisham

In summer 2020, Prince William enjoyed a pint of cider at the 600-year-old Rose & Crown just after it recently reopened following the easing of lockdown restrictions,

During his visit, Wills revealed that he'd previously brought his young family to the pub, where the kids made the most of their play park.

The King’s Head Hotel, Great Bircham

Fancy Norfolk hotel and restaurant The King's Head Hotel is one of the Cambridges favourites.

Kate and Wills were previously snapped at the venue back in 2014 as they enjoyed a meal not long after welcoming first child Prince George.

At the time, it was reported that the couple had opted for the same meal, both enjoying a grilled fillet of black bream with roasted Mediterranean vegetables, baby spinach, marinated olives and oven-dried tomatoes with arrabbiata sauce.

For dessert, William some vanilla ice cream with two spoons for him and Kate to share – how cute!

The family-run King's Head Hotel was built in the Edwardian era, and is also conveniently close to the Sandringham estate, where Anmer Hall is situated.
