Doctor spills beans on ‘creepy’ reason pregnant women aren’t shown MRI scans
A doctor has explained the "creepy" reason why pregnant mums are unlikely to ever see an MRI scan of their unborn baby.
TikTok user @madmedicine who uses the platform to share "dope medical facts" with his followers said he wouldn't feel comfortable showing expecting mums the images.
In the clip, he shows a variety of MRI scans of babies, which viewers reckoned looked like "monsters", "zombies", "demons", or even "Mr Bean".
The scan shows into the babies' skulls, with the brains clearly visible, and also makes it appear like the infants don't have any eyelids.
He said: "I don't think any expecting mother would want to see this.
"First of all, I don't know how I would explain this to an expecting mother, like hey this is the thing growing inside of you. This is pretty creepy!"
"Second of all, I doubt any expecting mother wants to know that her child looks like this."
He then points up at a particularly alarming-looking baby captured by MRI.
The doctor adds: "So the simple answer is, for the mother's sake, no. Unless they really want to see it, in which case you asked for it."

Unsurprisingly, the video made a strong and scary impression and was watched more than 1.6 million times with thousands of people debating which creatures the babies most resembled.
One person commented: "It's important to show the mothers the monsters they're about to unleash on the world."
"The second MRI looks like Mr Bean," joked someone else in reference to actor Rowan Atkinson's comic character.
Another person asked: "So we were zombies or demons when we were growing?"
"I would totally want to see this if it was my demonbaby," commented a woman.
But someone else wrote: "Nah nah I would be scared to sleep knowing it's inside of me."
