Best celeb Halloween beauty transformations – from Maya Jamas mermaid to Olivia Bowens Barbie

With last year's gathering restrictions well in the past, Halloween celebrations are officially back on the cards for 2021 and we couldn't be anymore excited.

Whether you’re heading out for a spook-tacular party with friends, or binge watching your favourite scary films at home, it’s time to grab your make-up bag (and maybe the fake blood) and get creating some eerie-sistable beauty looks.

Not sure where to start? Luckily for you and your ghoul-friends, we’ve rounded up the best celebrity Halloween make-up looks from over the years to give you some much-needed inspiration.

From Barbie-inspired makeovers to mummified transformations, here are some scarily-good make-up moments from your favourite celebrities…

Maya Jama’s evil mermaid

It's no secret that Maya Jama slays Halloween year in, year out. From her Jessica Rabbit get-up, to her epic Cat Woman look last year, there isn't much she can't pull off – but this transformation in 2019 was mermazing.

Make-up artist Anna Lingis-Zavros turned Maya into an ocean goddess using face jewels from Gypsy Shrine, from just £2 here, eyeshadow hues from BPerfect X Stacey Marie Carnival XL Pro Palette, £42 here, and pulled the look together with contact lenses from MesmerEyez, just £6.25 here.

Celebrity hairstylist Carl Bembridge was also part of the glam team, creating Maya's flowing green locks using a custom-made wig from his own brand, Carl Bembridge Wigs.

Speaking of the mermaid makeover, Carl writes on Instagram: "Custom made wig for this look, loved this project start to finish. Added dreads and braids with added hair and mixture of tones plaited in. I coloured using a mixture of green from @crazycolorltd."

Olivia Bowen’s cartoon Barbie

If scary make-up looks aren’t your thing, don’t get spooked. Look to Love Island’s Olivia Bowen, who took contour to a whole new level in 2019 with a cartoon-y take on a Barbie doll.

Olivia’s make-up artist used Morphe X Jeffree Star Artistry Palette to create the punchy pink eyeshadow look, but as it’s out of stock online, we think the Urban Decay Wired Palette, £27.30 here is a great swap.

Gigi Hadid’s The Mask

We don’t know how the supermodel managed to look catwalk-ready whilst being caked in green paint but we’re here for it. From the flawless contour to the sharp winged liner, this Halloween look takes the pandemic's mask-wearing to a whole new level.

The NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Semi Permanent Liquid Liner, £6.75 here, has an ultra-thin brush for fuss-free application.

Kylie Jenner’s angel

It’s official, nobody does Halloween glam like the Kardashian/Jenner clan. Just look to Kylie Jenner as an example, who broke the internet in 2018 with her Victoria's Secret-inspired look. The star matched with her sisters, who all dressed as the catwalk angels, but Kylie certainly stole the show with her Hollywood-style blonde locks, sultry eye make-up and bedazzled catsuit.

Laura Whitmore’s Legally Blonde

When it comes to ghoul-power, Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods is the ultimate cult icon. We’re obsessed with Laura Whitmore’s spooky take on the early noughties movie icon, especially her voluminous blonde pony.

If you’re ‘dying’ to copy her hair look, you won’t need a Harvard law degree – just a ponytail extension, some bobby pins and some patience. We recommend the Hair Choice Extensions 20inch Pony, £8.50 here for instant glam.

Lauren Pope’s mummy

It’s been three whole years since the TOWIE star trick and treated us to this mummified look, but we’re still in awe of her sultry eye look and beautifully-bronzed skin.

To master Lauren’s Egyptian-themed make-up, use a dark black eyeshadow and smoke it out – adding a heavy lash for added depth. We love this Halloween-themed lash bundle, £10 here, by Tatti Lashes for creating boo-tiful eye looks.
