WandaVision: Why We Think a Fan-Favorite MCU Character Is Watching Wanda and Vision

While there are a lot of questions we need answering stemming from the first two episodes of WandaVision, there’s one that seems to have an easy answer. The first episode ends with a cliffhanger where viewers learn that Wanda and Vision aren’t living out a surreal sitcom for themselves: they’re being watched. We only get to see the hand of said person, but they’re watching WandaVision just as we are, on TV with credits rolling and everything.

The first question is, what does that mean for the town of WestView? We have some ideas about that, but most importantly, we have to ask, who is watching “WandaVision” in the real world and what do they want? First things first, let’s examine the clues. The mysterious person seems to be a woman and, by the looks of her notepad, one who’s associated with the mysterious S.W.O.R.D. Admittedly, that isn’t a lot to go on, but when we cross-examine that with the show’s announced cast, we can guess that the watcher in question is none other than one Darcy Lewis, last seen in Thor: The Dark World.

Darcy (Kat Dennings) has a history of getting caught up in the weird goings-on in the MCU, and even though we haven’t seen her since 2013, the character has been busy! According to Matt Shakman, director of all nine episodes of WandaVision, she’s gone from intern to boss since her last appearance. “She’s gone on to become Dr. Darcy Lewis now,” the director stated in the series’s production notes. “So, she’s a real expert in her field.” Expert in what, exactly, we still don’t know, but it gives Darcy a plausible reason to work with S.W.O.R.D. and wind up observing Wanda and Vision’s situation.
