LOEWE's FW22 Runway Sinkhole Car Coat Will Drain Your Bank Account

Jonathan Anderson‘s LOEWE is changing our perception of what fashion can be, and the house’s Fall/Winter 2022 show — complete with sinkhole coats, architectural tops, nipple-freeing sweaters, elongated gloves, hyperrealistic graphics depicting oysters, cats and cherries, and so much more — truly pushed the boundaries. Now, LOEWE is slowly releasing items from its FW22 runway show, and leading the pack is the Sinkhole Embellished Car Coat in Twill Wool.

Never one to shy away from the extremities of fashion and design, Anderson applies more than a dozen silver galvanized sink holes on the left-hand side of the coat, working as a looking glass into the wearer’s identity beneath. It comments on the mundanity of life; such normality and irreverence have become a staple of the designer’s vision, infiltrating his eponymous label with items such as the pigeon clutch bag as well as LOEWE with its divisive wellington.

Aside from the addition of sinkholes, you’ll find a classic Car Coat made from twill wool that combines a beige base with brown threads creating the material’s signature textural look and feel. A single-breasted design is accented with flap pockets and a concealed placket, while a crisp collar and a rear central seam add structure to the avant-garde outerwear garment. Rounding the piece off its LOEWE’s signature neckline tag placed on the inside of the collar.

While the coat is incredible and undoubtedly requires plenty of attention to detail to finish, those wanting it will have to cough up a pretty penny to own it. LOEWE’s Sinkhole Embellished Car Coat in Twill Wool retails for $12,050 USD and can be bought online or in LOEWE’s boutiques worldwide now alongside more FW22 collection pieces.
