Jonnie Irwin issues light-hearted health update after latest scans
Jonnie Irwin has shared another health update with fans amid his terminal cancer.
The A Place in the Sun presenter, 49, revealed last November that a tumour in his lung had spread to his brain, with doctors uncertain how long he had to live.
He later admitted that professionals didn’t expect him to see in 2023.
Jonnie has kept his followers in the loop with his treatment and check-ups, while also giving us a glimpse inside sweet moments with his family as he makes the most of his final moments.
In his latest update, the property expert revealed that not only had he had MRI and CT scans, but they took place in a rather unusual location.
Sharing a video to Instagram, the dad-of-three filmed himself walking through the sunshine in a car park.
‘I had some scans today,’ Jonnie began.
‘Not in a hospital …but in a leisure centre car park,’ he said with a funny expression.
‘MRI and CT unit in this!’, Jonnie added, panning the camera around to a mobile treatment room.
‘Surprising!’, Jonnie exclaimed with a smile.
Writing in his caption, the Escape to the Country star was full of praise for the health service.
‘I actually had a great experience’, he said.
‘We were able to park almost on the doorstep, no queue and done n dusted in under 15 minutes. Well done #nhs’.
Offering their support in the comments, one follower responded: ‘Looking really well, Jonnie, sincerely. Hope you had a good break x’
‘You look really amazing Jonnie . Keep fighting all your fans have their hands on your back . ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌’, said another.
Another said sweetly: ‘You are doing amazing pal, admire you so much. Xxx’
Jonnie has recently returned home from a well-deserved break with his wife Jess and their young sons: Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.
Despite enduring road trip hell on the journey there, as all three kids were stuck in the car with iPads – and no headphones! – Jonnie and his adorable family had the ‘best’ time.
Delighting fans with the cutest snaps from the trip, the presenter took to social media over the weekend.
He wrote: ‘The best weather, best fun and the very best people for a few days away.’
Jonnie shared several photos of his wife, kids, and himself enjoying their staycation, including one where he was sitting on a sun lounger with his three sons wearing matching shirts.
They also took a dip in the pool and larked around with all kinds of inflatable toys.
Jonnie’s little ones remain unaware of his terminal cancer, as he’s said he doesn’t wish to ‘confuse’ them by having the conversation.
However, he has spoken publicly about his ‘uncomfortable limits’ and admitted to feeling a lot ‘weaker’ nowadays.
‘I really would like to go on holiday – every week I feel a little bit stronger,’ he recently explained to The Sun in an interview.
‘I don’t think I would be able to go long haul, I wouldn’t feel comfortable but if I could go somewhere in Spain, Portugal or Italy – that would be great,’ the star added.
He also told the outlet: ‘I get more tired, my appetite has been affected but I’m just trying to do as much as possible all the time really.’
