John Legend, Chrissy Teigen and Julia Fox lead the way at White House dinner

Hollywood descended on Washington DC for the annual White House correspondents’ dinner on Saturday night, led by John Legend, Chrissy Teigen and Julia Fox in a reliably striking look.

The yearly celebration of White House media and power players always attracts an array of glitzy celebrities, and 2023 was no exception.

While President Joe Biden settled in for his roast of figures including Elon Musk, Tucker Carlson and Florida politician Ron DeSantis, he was surrounded by some of America’s best-known names.

Chart-topping singer John Legend, 44, rocked up in classic black tie, alongside model wife Chrissy, 37, in a flowing silver gauzy gown with a crystal embellished bodice.

Wearing her hair in loose waves, she accessorized with a rectangular matching silver clutch, diamond drop earrings and a couple of large jewels on her fingers too.

Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan attended the event with his wife Echo, fresh off his triumphant award season comeback, over 30 years since his previous heyday as a star in the likes of Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies.

Meanwhile media personality Julia Fox, 33, appeared to be inspired by ballet thriller Black Swan with her look, as she showcased dramatic white face make-up that blended down onto her collarbones, with dark purple lipstick and bird-like sweeps of eyeliner in a dramatic graphic design.

Her black gown featured a lace-up corset and feathers around the waist and down into the trail, with the Uncut Gems star carrying a black handbag with a coat hanger handle and wearing sheer dark gloves.

Other stars at the bash included Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey, who showed off her striking tattoo collection across her shoulders and back in a black lace dress with a keyhole design at the front.

The 49-year-old, who was sporting raven black hair, also matched her lipstick expertly to her red statement earrings as she walked the carpet with her new husband Marc Menchaca.

US TV royalty Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos also put in an appearance on the red carpet, as well as basketball star Brittney Griner and her wife Cherelle, who shared a kiss in front of photographers.

Griner was at the centre of a political storm between Russia and the US last year when she was arrested and put on trial after mistakenly bringing cannabis oil into the country.

The two-time Olympic gold medallist was detained for eight months in Russia, and was set to serve nine years in a penal colony after a Russian court convicted her on a drug use charge.

However, she was later freed in a prisoner swap with one of the world’s largest illicit arms dealers, Viktor Bout, known as the ‘Merchant of Death’.

A Small Light star Liev Schreiber was also at the dinner, as was model Winnie Harlow, CBS Mornings co-anchor Gayle King and Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs.
