Strictly Come Dancing’s Neil Jones reveals reason behind split from wife Katya after Seann Walsh scandal
Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Neil Jones has candidly opened up on the reason behind his split from his dancer wife Katya.
The 38 year old dancer and Katya, who is also a Strictly professional, announced their decision to part ways in an emotional statement in September last year.
Neil and Katya’s breakup came less than a year after Katya, 31, was photographed kissing her Strictly dance partner Seann Walsh outside a pub in London.
Months after his split from his dancer wife, Neil has opened up about the reason behind his marriage breakdown.

He explained: “We found that we’d grown apart like people do, so we were like: ‘OK, let’s go our separate ways’. We are lucky that we don’t have kids.
“It had nothing to do with what happened [with Seann].
“We were moving in different directions but we are friends again now. Katya is a great girl and I’ve got nothing bad to say about her.”
Neil also revealed he is yet to begin divorce proceedings from his dancer wife as he said: “We’re still not divorced. It’s a thing we’re trying to sort out but we haven’t started the process yet.
“A lot of the places are not working because of the coronavirus. Everything is on hold. But we’re not in any rush.”
After his wife was photographed kissing comedian Seann, 34, who later apologised alongside Katya for his actions, Neil remained tight-lipped on his feelings around the ordeal.
But, now Neil has spoken out about his reaction to his wife’s kissing scandal.
He told The Sun On Sunday: “We’re human, we all see things in completely different ways. We don’t all react the same way.
“That’s the thing with me. I’m in a good place and me and Katya get on really well now.
“For me it’s something that happened in the past. We spoke about everything back then. We had a situation but everyone was supportive, so we got through it.”
Neil also praised the BBC One show for their support throughout the scandal as he said: “Strictly was great to both of us when it happened and we’re both in a good place now. I never thought about quitting. It’s a job I love doing.

“We both just got on and worked. We had a long time together and we are not together now. But we get on well and that’s the important thing.”
Despite remaining strong, Neil was taunted by comedian Seann, who branded Neil as gay during a London stand up show in December 2018 as he said: “I’m the guy who kissed a gay man’s wife.”
Addressing Seann’s claims, Neil said he is unfazed by what the comedian said as he explained: “I’m ginger, anyone who is ginger is used to being called worse things. I’ve developed a thick skin. I didn’t try to punch him or anything. I don’t like confrontation or drama.”
