Sam Thompson fires back at trolls over Zara McDermott’s cheating scandal: ‘People are pr**ks’

Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott were just one of the many couples gushing over each other to celebrate their Valentine's Day at home in lockdown.
The Made in Chelsea stars, who rekindled their romance at the end of last year, posted about their love for each other on social media for the world to see while watching Harry Potter on the sofa after exchanging their gifts.
Zara firstly shared a selection of pictures of the two of them looking loved-up and happy as she wrote on Instagram: “When it’s dark, you are my light. When I’m weak, you are my strength. When there’s pain, you are my forgiveness. And when there’s change, you are my growth.

“Thank you for being my rock, and standing by me, even when I didn’t deserve it. Thank you for loving me when I couldn’t even love myself.”
She continued: “You are so loved. Even when you do rip the duvet off me to wake me up every morning. Happy Valentine’s day to my one true love. you are my moon and all my stars.”
Sam, who recently said "absolutely not" to marriage and babies, then posted a picture of Zara holding an amazing bouquet of red and white roses as she smiled for the camera.

“I still wake up thinking it’s a dream. I love you,” he gushed of Zara to his 1.2 million Instagram followers.
Despite being open about forgiving Zara since she confessed to cheating on him in the past, trolls were quick to bring it back up on his post.
One fan said: “I hope she will never hurt you again!!! You deserve all the best Sam!! Xxx.”

Another wrote: “Hope it stays this way,” while a third commented: “Nope Sam, it wasn’t a dream, she really did run off with that X factor producer.”
It was clear Sam had enough of the negative comments as he shared the message on his Instagram story – which has since been deleted – and penned: “Same kind of person who will say ‘in a world where you can be anything, be kind,” with a laughing face emoji.
He went on to add in another post: “That saying is a joke. Some people are pr**ks, and that’s the way it will always be.
“Instead of spiting a useless saying, it’s much more effective to just accept that some people are w***ers and move on.”
Many of Sam and Zara’s fans waded in to support them as one shared: “Ignore negative comments everyone deserves a second chance and you two make a lovely couple.”
“Pretty sure if they can both move on from a mistake the rest of the nation should be able to,” another social media user added.
One fan kindly wrote: “She makes you happy. She is for you. She is a good girl. Be with her and never look back.”
The couple split after Zara admitted to cheating on Sam during her time on The X Factor: Celebrity.
The Islander competed on the show with Wes Nelson, Samira Mighty and Eyal Booker in band No Love Lost.
After a period of separation, Sam and Zara got back together and are happier than ever.
