Paul Chuckle, 73, has hit out at Chuckle Bro’s Removals for using his and late brother Barry for their branding. The kids’ telly veteran branded the company “disgusting” for plastering its van with an image of him and his dead sibling saying their famous catchphrase “To me, to you!”

Unbelievable… disgusting

But the owner of the three-week-old Liverpool-based business yesterday told the Daily Star he’d done nothing wrong as he wasn’t using Paul’s exact name in the title of the firm.

ChuckleVision comic Paul fumed on Twitter over the company name and logo.

He ranted about an image of the firm’s truck sent to him on the social media site, saying: “Unbelievable… disgusting.

“This should not be allowed when will it stop!!

“This is obviously nothing to do with us, using our name and faces.”

Among the many of the Twitter users who supported Paul’s outrage was his Only Fools And Horses star pal John Challis.

The 78-year-old, who played car dealer Boycie on the sitcom, responded to Paul’s post with the word “Naughty.”

However, one user urged him to embrace his image being used, as it was more of a “tribute” than misrepresentation.

They said: “Paul don’t go all big corp it’s a tribute really… life’s too short.”

But others disagreed and said it was being used for “profit” without the Chuckle Brother star’s permission.

One commented: “It’s not a tribute or harmless fun, its deliberate misrepresentation…In a bid to profit off of someone else without permission… it’s plain wrong and damaging.”

Another replied: “It’s not a tribute, it’s making money off someone else’s name and without their permission.”

According to the publication, the company has no record on Companies House and its owner would only give his first name as Charlie when called by the paper.

The Liverpudlian is reported to have said: “I set up the business about three-and-a-half weeks ago.

“I put my van into the shop and they designed it for me when I asked for a logo for a removals firm.

“I haven’t exactly copied his name – his name’s Paul Chuckle and I’ve called it the Chuckle Bro’s. It’s not just me.”

Paul’s older brother Barry died from a secret battle with bone cancer aged 73 in August 2018.

The siblings were together for 70 years and worked as the Chuckle Brothers for 56 of those.

“We spent 45 weeks a year together,” said Paul on Twitter.

“I miss him greatly. We were great mates. He was a great brother.

“We used to laugh all the time. It’s upsetting because we’ll never have that again. I’ll never have that fun again with my brother.

“It’s hard but that’s life. You have to keep going.”
