Kelvin Fletcher: Strictly star’s Emmerdale pal Charley Webb spills on his dance experience

Kelvin Fletcher, 35, and professional dancer Oti Mabuse, 29, have received very positive comments from the judges since Strictly Come Dancing 2019 began this series.

The former Emmerdale actor, who played Andy Sugden for 20 years, is also the favourite to win the show due to his incredible start.

But his ex co-star and friend, Charley Webb, who plays Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap, said his incredible performances haven’t been a surprise to her.

The mother-of-three admitted she knew he had some moves up his sleeve as they’ve have spent many late nights together in night clubs.

We’ve enjoyed a lot of nights out

When asked how she knew Kelvin was a good dancer, she told the latest issue of OK! Magazine: “Well, that comes from being out in a club with Kelvin dancing at 3am!

“We’ve sort of grown up together so we’ve enjoyed a lot of nights out. Like most guys, he’ll be up on the dance floor after a few drinks.”

Charley said he will dance along to any “pop or R&B songs” and loves a “dance off”, which may come in handy during the results show.

She went on: “He loves dancing to Beyonce; that gets both of us straight on the dance floor. I don’t know if he can do the whole Single Ladies routine, but I know he’d give it a good go.

“He’s a fun guy and always a good laugh on a night out.”

Charley added she believes Kelvin has a “really good chance” at winning, and he’s now favourite to lift the Glitterball trophy, according to bookmakers.

Meanwhile, Kelvin and Oti will be performing the Charleston this Saturday night, to the Mary Poppins Returns theme song.

The former soap star shared a video to his Instagram account of him holding his young son, Milo, while performing a few moves.

He wrote: “Little Milo has been helping me with rehearsals for this weekend’s #MarryPoppinsReturns Charleston!

“This soundtrack and this song especially has been on loop in our house for the last few months since taking Marnie to the cinema (her first cinema trip) to watch it.”

He continued: “So I’ll be doing my best and making sure I don’t disappoint!”

Kelvin added: “I’m absolutely LOVING this #strictly experience I feel so lucky @bbcstrictly.”

The Strictly favourite and Oti appeared on It Takes Two yesterday where they reflected on last week’s Waltz and their upcoming routine.

Oti praised her dance partner’s performance, saying: “ I think he [Kelvin] did really well and for the amount of time we had to produce the Waltz, I was really happy.

“I know there are a lot of things we can work on but that gives us a bit of a journey to go on. I really liked the judges being honest with us and gave us something to work on!”

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday on BBC One.
