Inside Adelaide Cottage as Kate and William are linked to home on Windsor Estate

It's been regularly spoken recently that Prince William and Kate Middleton will move closer to the Queen.

The married couple and their children currently split their time between Kensington Palace and their weekend home in Amner Hall in Norfolk.

But, it has now been reported that the royal couple are eyeing up a move to Windsor as they see it as "the perfect place" to raise their brood.

The residence the couple appear to have cast their eyes on is Adelaide Cottage, a residence built in 1831.

A source told The Sun: "Finding a way to make Adelaide Cottage work seems to be the best and only option.

"There are issues with all the other houses, so Adelaide will be the favourite."

And it's certainly a beautiful place to call home, nestled in Home Park in Windsor.

The sweet property is owned by the Queen, but it can be leased for free, or for low rent.

It's named after Princess Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, the wife of King William IV, and it was previously occupied by Group Captain Peter Townsend.

It's a known fact that the Cambridges love the countryside, so it looks like the perfect bolthole for the couple.

The beautiful cottage underwent a renovation in 2015, and boasts some beautiful decor as a result, according to reports.

It's believed that the main bedroom has a ceiling covered in gilded dolphins and a rope decoration, as well as a marble Graeco-Egyptian fireplace.

The property is the most newly refurbished on the estate and will certainly be appropriate for a busy family of five.

Adelaide Cottage was nearly the home of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, and it actually boasts one of the most scandalous royal love stories of all time.

One of the most famous former residents was Princess Margaret's love interest, Group Captain Peter Townsend.

Family, Peter Townsend embarked on a famous love affair with Princess Margaret, and their relationship was viewed as sordid as Peter was a divorced man, 16 years older than her.
