Emmerdale viewers last saw Emily Head as her character Rebecca White when she left with on-screen boyfriend Ross Barton (played by Michael Parr) and her son Seb, who she shares with Robert Sugden (played by Ryan Hawley). In a surprising turn, the couple moved to Liverpool which left viewers wondering if they’d ever return.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, the 33-year-old said she would “never say never” about reprising her role, but would prefer to leave Rebecca and Ross to enjoy their new life.

She spilled: “I had such a great time there and building the character and I felt ready to move on when I did.

“I like the idea of Rebecca living her best life in Liverpool with Ross and the baby Seb.

“I like the idea of leaving them there and having a brilliant time together.”

Not ruling out a return completely though, she added: “If there was ever a particular reason why she needed to come back to the village and if it fitted in with what I wanted to do that year, then sure, why not?”

Rebecca was hesitant to leave the Dales until she made a last-minute decision to join Ross.

After it seemed that he would be leaving alone at the time, she pulled up and said: “Leave it any longer we’ll hit rush hour traffic the whole way.”

Seb’s father Robert was later seen sharing the news with his friend Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

He told him: “I’m letting him go. I have to. It’s the right thing to do.”

Aaron was then seen making a swift dash up the road in an attempt to say goodbye to Seb, who he was set to adopt.

Viewers at the time said they were left “heartbroken” by the scenes.

Emily went on to agree that storylines had turned darker over the years, but said she didn’t always get to watch the soap.

The actress’ last on-screen role was starring in series four of The Syndicate as Colette Andrews.

She rose to fame playing Carli D’Amato aged 18 in the popular sitcom The Inbetweeners.

Reflecting on her time on set, she said: “It was so much fun, it was hilarious on set every day.

“It was my first job out of school. It was a dream come true really.”

Emily went on to say it would be “a disservice” to reprise the characters now, as they now all in their thirties.

Elsewhere, the actress is supporting Blue Cross’ annual Christmas Appeal, which calls on the animal-loving public to make a donation.

Money towards the charity gives animals the chance to have the happy, healthy lives they deserve.
