H.E.R. Sings ‘I Can’t Breathe’ In Michelle Obama’s Livestream Event

On National Voter Registration Day, H.E.R. played her moving new song “I Can’t Breathe,” paying tribute to the raging protests against the killing of George Floyd by police.

She was one among the star-studded lineup who performed at Michelle Obama‘s day-long “Get Registered & Ready” Instagram Live event.

“So I’m gonna do a song today for National Voter Registration Day on behalf of Michelle Obama. Hope you guys enjoy!” the 22 year-old R&B singer said.

“What is a gun to a man that surrenders/ What’s it gonna take for someone to defend her/ If we all agree that we’re equal as people/ Then why can’t we see what’s evil?” she sang.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter debuted the track in June, inspired by the Black Lives Matter protests.

The former first lady had also invited Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, DJ Khaled and 2 Chainz for the live event.
