Gemma Atkinson addresses delayed wedding to Gorka and gruelling career exit
Gemma Atkinson shows her postpartum bump
Gorka Marquez proposed to Gemma Atkinson in 2021 on Valentine’s Day, but the former soap actress has insisted the couple are in no rush to tie the knot.
After meeting Spanish professional dancer Gorka on Strictly in 2017, Gemma has been through several life changes, including becoming a fiancée and a mum-of-two, and leaving her career in acting behind.
The Hits Radio presenter has now spoken out on why she hasn’t walked down the aisle as of yet, and why she won’t be returning to the soaps, where she found fame.
Setting the record straight on her wedding plans in an interview with OK! Magazine, Gemma, who welcomed her son Thiago just one month ago, said: “Let me fit in my dress first!”
She then explained: “We’re quite chilled with it all. We have two babies. I’m not really fussed by a white wedding.

“A nice little quiet affair with friends and family and we’ll be happy.”
The fitness enthusiast previously admitted to New Magazine that she and Gorka have no time to plan a wedding and were postponing their nuptials due to his hectic Strictly schedule.
Gemma went on to reveal that she won’t be looking for new acting roles after her maternity leave finishes, as she now prefers presenting her Hits Radio show and working on her brand.
“I don’t think I will [return to acting],” the former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star divulged.

She continued: “I’ve got the radio, I’ve got the podcast. I’ve got all my fitness stuff and my brand stuff with In The Style.
“I wouldn’t do soaps again, the hours are so gruelling.
“I’m in a place now where I can be a bit more picky. I’ve been working full-time in acting since I was 15 so I feel like I’ve done all that now.
“I’ve got a nice stage where I can be at home a lot more. I feel very lucky.”
Gemma played Lisa Hunter in Hollyoaks and in three spin-off series, Hollyoaks: After Hours, Hollyoaks: Let Loose and Hollyoaks: In the City.
She also appeared as Tamzin Bayle in Casualty, and Carly Hope in Emmerdale, before juggling her radio schedule and acting career became too difficult to handle.
