Hayley Tamaddon became a first time mum in October last year when she gave birth to son Jasper and now the soap star has opened up about her experience with post natal depression.

Sharing a video on her therapist Sarie Taylor's Instagram, Hayley bravely admitted: "When I first had Jasper, I felt like I had nowhere to go, no one to confide in, no one to talk to about problems that I was having with him. I felt like I was failing a lot of the time because I didn't know what to do, I didn't have the answers.

"I didn't realise I had post natal depression at the time. I just thought I was completely overwhelmed which I was," the 43-year-old continued.

After sharing her own experiences, the former Coronation Street and Emmerdale star has teamed up with her psychotherapist Sarie to help other mums who are in the same position and are struggling.

Announcing the four week course on her Instagram, Hayley posted an adorable picture of herself and son Jasper, who is nearly a year old, wearing matching black T-shirts that read 'super mumma' and 'super kid'.

"CALLING ALL NEW MAMA'S/PARENTS! Having a baby has been the best thing to ever happen to me.. same with you, right? It's a love I never knew I could feel. But my god it's not easy! It can be scary, difficult, exhausting, overwhelming…it can lead to having fears and dark thoughts… you've got questions..but no answers," she wrote.

"You feel anxious, stressed, "why won't my baby sleep? Why am I not in a routine? Why does everyone else seem to be back in their size 8 jeans apart from me?!" (Those are just 3 of a million thoughts I had that led me to getting post natal depression)" the Dancing on Ice champion admitted.

The mum-of-one gave birth to her son last year, her first child with estate agent fiancee Adrian and described his arrival as 'life changing'.

Sharing details about the tot's arrival, Hayley said: "It's been a whirlwind!! The most incredible life changing experience.. it's beyond anything I've ever felt.. it's a love so strong and overwhelming.. I just cry when I look at him! I feel truly blessed that he's mine."
