EastEnders Janines mystery man revealed as fans predict wedding drama
Janine Butcher was revealed to have a mystery man on EastEnders on Monday’s episode.
Albert Square’s ruthless resident (played by Charlie Brooks) was overheard by Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) talking to the man in question on the phone.
Janine is set to tie the knot with Shirley’s son Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) soon, but Shirley is convinced her pending daughter-in-law has already been unfaithful.
The pair will be facing off this Christmas following Shirley’s discovery that Janine has, in fact, been keeping secrets from Mick.
In an effort to uncover Janine’s scheming, Shirley secretly caught her chatting to a mystery man named Steve during a phone call, and went on to investigate further straight afterwards.
Viewers shared their theories on who mystery man Steve might be, following Monday’s episode.
One person tweeted: “Steve has to be the designer of Janine’s wedding dress."
A second wrote: “The only Steve Janine has met is the one from Corrie for the Children in Need First dates special we know it ain't him. #EastEnders”.
A third person asked: "Who is Steve? Is Janine cheating on Mick?? I gots to know."
Another viewer commented: “Now that Shirley has twigged: it’s officially the beginning of the end for Janine.”
They added: “I just hope @bbceastenders don’t kill her off. Janine is up there as one of my favourites EE characters of all time. She needs to keep popping back every few years.”
Actress Charlie, 41, who portrays Janine, has been confirmed to be leaving EastEnders, along with Danny, over the Christmas period.
Elsewhere in the episode, Janine revealed to her daughter Scarlett Butcher (Tabitha Byron) that they would be moving out of the pub to begin a new life with husband Mick.
Scarlett was left worried over her mum’s secret being found out, ruining any chance of a fresh start they may have. Janine reassured her daughter that she won’t be found out.
It comes after EastEnders’ Christmas episode has been teased, showing Janine and Shirley rowing over the Christmas dinner table, as she tries to expose her secret.
Discussing Shirley's plan to uncover Janine, Charlie told Digital Spy: "I think Janine is oblivious to the actual extent of it.
"She's almost amused by Shirley because she doesn't think that anyone's got anything on her.
"It's only Scarlett, at this point, who could really mess it all up. I think Janine is almost weary and slightly amused by Shirley."
