CREATE magic: Designers in the spotlight in six week showcase
The best of Ireland’s creatives have gathered under one roof to celebrate our unique point of difference in a constantly shifting and competitive fashion world.
At a time when global trends and copy cat concepts flood the shops, Irish designers have a very original voice.
The ninth annual CREATE showcase opened at Brown Thomas on Grafton Street last night. Running for six weeks, it is the store’s ongoing commitment to nurturing and uncovering Ireland’s brightest new talent. This year’s event presents 33 designers across ready-to-wear, jewellery, accessories, millinery, handbags, homeware and food artisans.
They include illustrator and designer Sara O’Neill from Portrush whose granny in Dublin read Irish legends to her as a child. They influenced her work and her Eadach silk halter neck, backless wrap dress, €600, features her Morrigan Serpent print inspired by the Goddess of War and her feud with Cú Chulainn.
Another contributor is the award-winning womenswear designer Katie Ann McGuigan from Newry whose previous work credentials include McQ and Marc Jacob.
