Claire Foy looked amazing on the cover of the December edition of Harper’s Bazaar UK – before detailing the pressure she feels as a mother in a candid interview.

The actress, 37, is set to win the actress award at the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year awards this year and smiled on the cover while wearing a stunning blue dress.

Inside the edition, she wore a pink floral ruffled strapless gown which boasted diamonds on the bust, while The Crown star looked pensively posed on an armchair.

In another snap, she put on a leggy display as she posed with her back against a wall while wearing a yellow three piece suit consisting of a bra, cropped blazer, and a miniskirt.

Speaking with the magazine, the star discussed motherhood to daughter Ivy, six, who she shares with ex-husband Stephen Campbell Moore.

She said: ‘There’s this pressure to be this cake-baking, fun, playing 24-hours a day mother, being some sort of vehicle for entertainment, love and food.

‘I’m just prepared to apologise for who I am: “I am so sorry – but you’re lumped with me. This is the hand you’ve been dealt, let’s try to make the best of it.”’

She went on to express that she no longer wants to play ‘someone’s wife’ or be a supporting actress if she can help it.

The Unsane star said: ‘It’s to underestimate the fact that women have, for centuries, been wives and mothers, and still are. That’s denying our entire history of what it means to be a woman. I’m interested in what she’s doing, what she thinks, what she believes.

‘I don’t ever want to say I’m never playing a part that is supporting, or someone’s wife, because they exist, and if you can give them a voice, you should, instead of just making all these female characters that are basically just men but look like women – the superhero women who can fly, punch men in the face, that sort of stuff.’

Claire is set to star in a new series called A Very British Scandal, and plays Duchess of Argyll.

The show follows Margaret Campbell, Duchess of Argyll, who was famed for her charisma, beauty and style, and who dominated the front pages as a divorce featuring accusations of forgery, theft, violence, drug-taking, secret recording, bribery and an explicit polaroid picture all played out.

Claire said of her role: ‘The story can’t do what was done to her the first time around. If the audience judges her in the same way as before, we have defeated the purpose of what this is trying to do.

‘This was a wealthy, privileged woman, pretty spoilt, by her own admission, and pretty questionable as a character. But, in that period it was difficult to get anyone to speak about their emotions; she created a mask.’

The brunette beauty went on to express her opinion on what the Queen may be feeling since her husband Prince Philip died.

Claire played the Queen in the first and second series of The Crown, following her ascension to the throne.

She said: ‘I’ve always played Peter [Morgan]’s fictionalised version of who he thought was the Queen.

‘I knew I would have to have attachments and beliefs about who that character was, but what right have I got to assume any sort of connection to her or ownership of her? But they were married for such a long time, and there is something so beautiful about their commitment to one another.’
