Cat Deeley pays sweet tribute to husband Patrick Kielty as she reflects on first meeting
TV presenter Cat Deeley has gushed over her husband Patrick Kielty on Instagram.
The pair first encountered each other while working on talent show Fame Academy between 2002 and 2003.
Cat, now 46, was married to businessman Mark Whelan at the time, but after the split, things turned romantic with Patrick. They then tied the knot in Rome 11 years ago.
Highlighting their long history in a sweet throwback post on Wednesday, Cat posted before and after shots of the pair together.
"A blink of an eye and here we are!! @patrickielty," she captioned it, sparking fans to share their love for the couple.
"Always felt the chemistry 20 years ago. Go you two [two heart emojis]," commented one nostalgic fan, before another added: "Still obsessed that you ended up together tbh."
"Looooooved you both on Fame Academy, star duo! Amazing couple!" said a third, before a fourth wrote: "You 2 are a beautiful."
Cat's sweet post comes after she and Patrick, 52, were spotted on a rare night out together at the 20th Irish Film and Television Academy Awards ceremony in Dublin this month.
Patrick is returning to late night talkshow territory this September – he fronted Patrick Kielty Almost Live for four years up until 2003 – taking on the iconic Late Late Show mantle after presenter Ryan Tubridy steps aside at the end of its current 60th season.
"I’m absolutely thrilled to be the next host of The Late Late Show," he said in a statement.
"To follow in the footsteps of Gay [Byrne], Pat [Kenny] and Ryan as the next custodian is a real honour and I can’t thank RTE enough for giving me the chance to be a part of the next chapter of such an iconic show.
"I’m also genuinely humbled to become part of Friday nights for so many Irish people, at home and around the world. I can’t wait to get started on one of the greatest jobs in television."
Ryan has been the face of the format for the last 14 years, and shared during his exit announcement: "Gratitude to all the people I have worked with and continue to work with and their families. And enormous gratitude to the guests, the artists, the singers, and the ‘doers’ who have come through the door and graced us with their presence."
