Angelina Jolie’s Kids Join Her at the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Premiere

Yesterday, Angelina Jolie attended the premiere of Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil with five of her kids in tow. Although eldest son Maddox Jolie-Pitt is busy being a freshman college student in South Korea, Knox, Zahara, Pax, Vivienne, and Shiloh were all smiles on the red carpet.

At the premiere, Jolie also stunned in a glittering one-shoulder Versace gown with a silver scorpion pin fastened to her hip; but that wasn’t her only elegant sartorial decision of the day.

During yesterday’s press conference for the second Maleficent film, which offers a live-action alternative take on Sleeping Beauty, the actress wore a long, sleeveless white dress that featured a black, toile floral print. Complementing the graceful dress, simple diamond drop earrings and a silver ring rounded out the accessories.

Onstage, she was joined by fellow Maleficent costars Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sam Riley, Harris Dickinson, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

During the press conference, the actress also got vulnerable about how returning to her role as the enchanting Maleficent has helped restore strength in her personal life.

According to Vanity Fair, Jolie said she was initially cautious about Maleficent’s character in the first installment. “You know years ago when we first did it, I was like, ‘She’s a bit wild and full-on and a bit much and fun,'” she said. “And now, I’ve been through different things in my life and I was so happy to feel strong again and to have some fun. And I adore being her and there’s something about her that I’m now very proud that I’m associated.”

During the time between the first film and the sequel, Jolie divorced longtime partner Brad Pitt. The actor also recently opened up about how their divorce has influenced his work. Speaking with NPR last month about his new movie, Ad Astra, Pitt said, “A breakup of a family is certainly an eye-opener that as one—and I’m speaking in general again—but as one needs to understand, I had to understand my own culpability in that, and what can I do better. Because I don’t want to go on like this.”

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will be released in theaters on October 18.
